Some people go to Ken Adam Park for the fresh air. Others go for the hiking trails. Me? I go for the scrub oaks—those gnarly, twisting, moody trees that look like they belong in some epic fantasy movie. So, when Logan said he liked the oaks, I knew we were about to create some next-level senior photos.

Now, Logan showed up with the classic senior session expression: a mix of why am I here and how long will this take? I get it. Having a camera pointed at your face while someone tells you to “act natural” isn’t exactly what most 18-year-olds consider a good time. But here’s the thing—Logan didn’t need to do much because the light was so perfect, and those oaks were showing off in the background like they knew they had an audience.

I made it my personal mission to get him to crack a big ol’ belly laugh. I pulled out all my usual tricks—bad jokes, random observations, the photographer stare (you know the one). I even declared mid-session, “Challenge accepted!” when I realized Logan was going to be a tough nut to crack.

Did I succeed in getting him to bust out a deep, unfiltered laugh? Nope. But did I get some downright fantastic shots that showed off his personality and made those oak trees work for him instead of just around him? Absolutely.

So here’s to Logan—stoic, effortlessly cool, and now the proud owner of some very rad senior portraits. Those scrub oaks may have been the setting, but Logan was definitely the main character. Congrats, Logan! You made the trees jealous.
