Ken Adam Park, nestled in the heart of Lompoc, is one of those hidden gems that delivers a little bit of everything—rolling hills, tons of scrub oaks perfect for posing clients, and a quiet kind of beauty that makes you feel like you've stumbled into a secret spot. It’s the perfect place for a senior session, offering a variety of backdrops, from woodsy charm to open fields, and on this particular day, a sky that could rival a Renaissance painting.

Cloudy skies on your session day? Cue the dramatic sighs and golden hour dreams slipping away... I get it, we all want that perfectly sunlit glow. But listen, today’s sky wasn’t just any cloudy sky. It was the kind that makes you want to start reciting poetry, the kind of dreamy drama you see on a painter's canvas—and I loved every bit of it.

And then, in struts Lola. Hair on point, outfits totally nailing the whole 'effortlessly cool' aesthetic. Not even the fanciest golden hour could’ve outshone her vibe. Lola brought her A-game of sass, snark, and a wit that’s sharper than my editing tools. This was a senior session where I spent half the time laughing and the other half wondering if I’d ever be as effortlessly cool.

Lola and I go way back—like, way back to when she was about four years old, rocking the soccer field with our team, The Pixies. I can still picture her perfectly braided hair, her laser-focused competitive spirit, and that determined little face that meant business. Some things never change. All these years later, she’s still that same powerhouse—only now, she’s traded in soccer cleats for the kind of confidence and presence that makes a photographer’s job ridiculously easy.

Cloudy skies or not, Lola showed up and reminded us all why a little moody magic can beat a boring ol' sunset any day. Congrats, Lola, you absolute legend.
