Beach sessions have always freaked me out a little. The light can change on a dime, and this time of year, the wind doesn’t hold back. But I have to say, this session with the Maxim family was a total win. I had so much fun getting to know this sweet family and their little one, and honestly, the overcast sky gave us some beautifully moody light to play with.
Wind can be chaos: hair everywhere, clothes doing their own thing, sand in places you’d rather not mention. But it’s that unpredictability that sometimes gives you the best photos.
Beyond the technical hurdles, what really stood out was the connection this family had. Despite the gusts and gloom, their warmth came through in every frame. Their toddler’s giggles battled the sound of the waves, and I was here for it. The parents were relaxed and kind, and made the session feel more like hanging out with friends than working through a shot list.
Their little guy started out a little shy, but it didn’t take long for him to get swept up in the wonder of the beach. Watching him explore was pure joy. He’d run, pause, laugh, then run again, and the way his parents followed along with that same joy and patience said a lot about their bond.
These kinds of moments are what I aim to capture. Real laughter, real connection, real life.
Thank you, Maxim family, for trusting me to capture this special time.
