Over the years, I’ve built up a solid list of spots — golden hills, shaded oak groves, vineyards, beaches, and the occasional wall that catches the light just right. Places I’ve stood at golden hour and thought, yes, right here.

But the list isn’t the limit. If you have a place that means something to you — your favorite trail, your school, somewhere you’ve spent a hundred afternoons — let’s go there instead.

Good locations usually have a few things in common: beautiful light, something interesting behind you, and enough room to move around. Perfectly manicured isn’t the point. Character is. A weathered fence, an open hillside, a canopy of old oaks. What makes a place work is often what makes it feel like somewhere, rather than just something to stand in front of.
