The weather was sweltering, and the air was thick with gnats, but when someone asks for holiday photos with their little family, you don’t let that stop you. You show up, sweat through it, and get the job done. Luckily, I also enjoy a good challenge.

The Brennans were a delight to photograph. Despite the heat and nonstop buzzing, everyone stayed in good spirits. We were determined to capture some holiday magic, and nothing, especially not flying insects, was going to get in our way.

We had to move fast because their little guy was basically a blur. He darted from spot to spot like a tiny whirlwind, and getting him to pause long enough for a photo was a test of reflexes. I tried everything to get him to laugh. Running, jumping, stomping leaves, running backward, whatever it took. He was adorably serious the entire time.

Eventually, with enough persistence and sweat, he gave in. The tiniest smile, a quick giggle, and we had it. Pure gold. We ended up with a great mix of playful and warm family shots, each one a little win over the chaos.

Thank you, Brennan family, for trusting me to capture this special time.

If you’re thinking about a family session at La Purisima Mission, I’d love to help you plan it.
