Dylan was such a gentleman, and with his older brother there for support, we had a great time chatting. Like many teenagers, Dylan thought he looked awkward in photos. After snapping a few shots, I wondered where he got that idea. Sometimes, just talking to these kids helps ease the nerves, and soon enough, I captured those awesome moments when they really shine in front of the camera.
Dylan probably didn’t realize that I’m all about those in-between moments, so the less he knew I was photographing him, the better. As we talked about the end of one of our favorite shows, “Stranger Things,” that’s when the real expressions started coming out. He tried to soften the blow by saying he thought Steve might be killed, and I had to hold back wishing he’d take that back. Thankfully, most of us know how the show ends.
Dylan, I hope he starts owning his time in front of the camera. His photos definitely say it all.
Thank you, Dylan, for trusting me to capture this special time.
