There’s something about the Santa Barbara Botanical Garden that always delivers: towering redwoods, golden-hour light, and just enough uphill walking to justify dessert after. I was excited to be back there for Evelyn’s senior session, and even more excited when she and her crew rolled in ready to make the most of it.

Evelyn brought along her friend Jordyn for moral support (and comic relief), plus her mom, dad, and little brother, who proudly took on the role of garden tour guide. Honestly, he might’ve known the trails better than I did.

Evelyn didn’t need much help settling in, though. I like to think I’m pretty good at making people feel comfortable in front of the camera (humble brag), but Evelyn came in with that calm, confident energy that makes everything easier. She was playful, relaxed, and totally herself, which, it turns out, photographs really well.

The garden gave us the perfect mix of light and texture, and Evelyn brought all the personality to match it. Every path felt like it led to another perfect backdrop. And given the spark she brings to football games, I should’ve known she’d be this fun to shoot.

Evelyn, thank you for being so easy to work with and for bringing your full, charming self to this session. You made my job look easy. Congrats on your senior year!

Thank you, Evelyn, for trusting me to capture this special time.
