Fall. You don't usually think of California when you hear that word, but trust me, it shows up here in its own quiet way. It's not New England, but it's enough. A little color on the trees, a little rain in the air, and suddenly Lompoc feels like it’s putting on a show.

I always get a little extra excited when a family session lines up with this time of year. The colors at La Purisima Mission are unreal in the fall, and somehow, every season makes it feel like a brand new place. Just when I think I’ve photographed every corner, something shifts and I see it with fresh eyes.

The Jansen, Logan, and Matrony families came ready, and the mix of warm fall tones and their easy connection made this one really enjoyable. Everyone moved through the space naturally, which always helps me focus more on the in-between moments.
