I have a special place in my heart for shy girls. I used to be one—a reserved girl who struggled to just let go. Navaeh embodies a simple beauty. When she arrived for her session, she didn’t seem overly excited, though she assured me she was. I did my best to coax her into relaxing, but sometimes you just have to accept that not everyone is into the high-energy, big poses.
Navaeh is shy and reserved, not the type to jump into flashy model moves like some other seniors I’ve photographed. And that’s totally fine. The small, subtle gestures she offered spoke volumes and captured who she is beautifully—no grand theatrics needed.
The La Purísima Mission provided a stunning backdrop, but it was really about capturing Navaeh’s authentic self. We didn’t need the chaos of staged poses; the simplicity of her moments shone through and I think that’s what makes them truly special.
