Oh green, you are my favoritist color. And when clients show up all clad in green, my heart sings a little louder. The Rios family knows how to do it right. They showed up coordinated but not overly matching, the kind of outfits that look good in photos but still let everyone’s personality come through.

I’ve photographed this family before, and that’s what makes sessions like this so special. I get to see them again, catch up, and see how much the kids have grown. There is something really grounding about photographing the same family over the years. It feels like pressing play on a story I already know but with new chapters every time.

Lorenzo brought his own set of challenges, which I secretly love. He was not in the mood to be the star of the show unless it was entirely his idea. So, I adjusted. If he wandered in close while I was snapping photos of someone else, I was ready to grab a few frames before he realized what I was up to. Toddlers make their own rules, and instead of fighting it, I just roll with it.

La Purisima Mission was the perfect backdrop. The weather gave us soft light that wrapped around the family in all the right ways. The muted walls and old stone paths always add texture and history to photos, which makes families pop even more.

And I have to admit something. I have a thing for baby toes. I don’t even fight it anymore. If there are tiny toes out, they will be photographed. It’s not negotiable. There is just something about them that feels like the sweetest reminder of this fleeting stage of life.

Thank you, Rios family, for trusting me to capture this special time.
